Send a large file without Drive permission walls
Google Drive is account storage. SendToAnyone is a temporary handoff: drop up to 6 GB with no account, share the link, and let it expire on schedule.
- No Google account to send or download
- No access-request emails when a client opens the link
- 6 GB free, auto-deleted after 1 hour to 7 days
- A password encrypts the files before upload
- Request links collect files without a sign-in wall
Account storage versus a transfer link
Checked on 23 October 2026, Google Drive’s official size help page describes stored file caps inside a Drive account, up to 5 TB for general files, with smaller conversion limits for Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Drive is built to keep files inside an account quota until you manually delete them. When Gmail turns an attachment over 25 MB into a Drive link, the file sits in the sender’s storage and follows folder sharing rules.
That workflow often breaks when handing a file to an outside client. If link sharing is left restricted, the recipient hits an access-request screen or is asked to sign in with a Google account they may not use at work. If the recipient uploads files back to your shared folder, they normally need to sign in, and the bytes count against account storage until someone cleans up old deliveries.
How a temporary handoff works here
SendToAnyone is built for the handoff, not the permanent folder. You open the browser, drop up to 6 GB with no account, pick an expiry of 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days, and share the link. Anyone with the link can download in a browser without signing in. When the timer runs out, the link stops working and scheduled cleanup removes the files from global cloud storage.
A password encrypts the files before they leave the browser. It is not in the email. A link without a password keeps the key in the link. We cannot read those files. If you need to collect files from a client, create a request link on the receive page while signed in; the client uploads up to 6 GB without creating an account and never sees files uploaded by other people.
Larger deliveries and honest boundaries
When a project is over 6 GB, Creator raises one transfer to 50 GB and 30 days for ₹299 or $3.99 monthly or ₹3,199 or $39.99 yearly. A Pass covers one 100 GB transfer for 30 days at ₹199 or $2.49 without changing your plan. Pro covers 250 GB per transfer, 1,000 GB stored, and links up to 1 year for ₹999 or $10.99 monthly or ₹10,499 or $109.99 yearly, after the server confirms payment.
Do not use SendToAnyone as a permanent cloud drive or a collaborative document editor. Keep Google Drive when you want long-term folders, live document editing, or multi-terabyte archival storage. Team checkout here is not open, Studio and Business say Contact sales, there is no EU storage region, and the service is run by an independent operator based in India and is not yet certified.
A transfer link compared with account storage
| SendToAnyone free | Google Drive storage | |
|---|---|---|
| Primary job | Expiring file transfer link | Long-term account storage and docs |
| Sender account | Not required on free | Requires a Google account |
| Recipient experience | Opens in browser, no login | Depends on link permission settings |
| Cleanup | Deleted automatically after expiry | Stays in your storage quota until deleted |
Questions
Why do clients get blocked on Drive links?
If a Drive link is not switched to public link access, or if a corporate policy restricts external logins, the recipient is asked to sign in or request access. Here, the link opens in the browser without an account.
Can someone upload files to me without a Google account?
Yes. Create a request link on the receive page. The uploader needs no account.
Does SendToAnyone compress videos or photos?
No. The bytes you select are the bytes the recipient downloads.
Is this a backup drive?
No. Every link has an expiry, up to 7 days on free and up to 1 year on Pro. Keep your own archive.
