- Link length from 1 hour to 7 days
- A password encrypts the files
- Request link for someone to upload to you
Side by side
Checked on 30 October 2026 against WeTransfer’s own help pages. WeTransfer Free, as described there, needs an account, caps free use per month, and keeps links for a short time. SendToAnyone free is 6 GB on one transfer, no account to send or download, and a link you set from 1 hour to 7 days. A password encrypts the files. A request link lets someone upload to you.
WeTransfer is the name a lot of clients already trust. If a studio’s clients expect that brand, or you need the larger paid tier they sell, use them. SendToAnyone is the better fit when neither person wants an account and the file fits in 6 GB.
Figures checked on their pages
On 23 October 2026 the WeTransfer free-plan article said sending requires a free account and receiving does not, and that transfer links expire after a maximum of 3 days. The same day’s help center said free is up to 10 transfers, or 3 GB total, in a rolling 30 days. The file-size article said free accounts can send up to 3 GB per transfer. Those two size readings disagree, so this page does not collapse them into one number.
SendToAnyone free is one number: 6 GB per transfer and a link you set, with 7 days as the longest. Creator is 50 GB and 30 days. Pro is 250 GB and 1 year. A Pass is 100 GB for 30 days and does not change the account plan. Studio and Business are not in checkout. Team checkout is not open. There is no choice of an EU storage region.
How a send works here
Open the home page, drop the file, choose how long the link stays open, and copy the link. The recipient opens it in a browser. Email, if you use it, contains the link and not the file. The upload does not transcode the file. If the total is over the plan you are on, the form refuses it and you split the work.
The upload scan checks the file name and the first few kilobytes before encryption. It cannot detect every kind of malware or every pirated file. Files travel over HTTPS. Turning encryption off leaves them encrypted in transit and at rest. Smash, TransferNow, and SwissTransfer each publish their own limits. The compare page keeps those numbers next to the page they came from, with the date they were checked.

Questions
Do I need an account to send?
No. The recipient does not need one either.
Why does the WeTransfer size have two readings?
The help center and the file-size article, both checked on 23 October 2026, do not say the same thing. Both stay visible. Neither number is a SendToAnyone allowance.
Does the password encrypt the file?
Yes. A password encrypts the files before they leave the browser. It is not in the email. A link without a password keeps the key in the link. We cannot read those files.
Can I buy a team plan instead?
Team checkout is not open. Studio and Business say Contact sales on the pricing page.
