A Wormhole alternative with 7-day links and passwords

Wormhole’s FAQ stores files up to 5 GB for 24 hours. Here you store up to 6 GB free for up to 7 days, add a password if you want one, or request files from a client.

What Wormhole’s FAQ and roadmap stated

On 23 October 2026 Wormhole’s official FAQ stated that files up to 5 GB are stored on the server for 24 hours and then permanently deleted, and that files larger than 5 GB require the sender to keep the page open until the recipient downloads. The same FAQ stated that files are encrypted with 128-bit AES-GCM in the browser before they leave.

On that same date, Wormhole’s public roadmap listed QR codes, custom expiration, maximum download count, inline viewing, and delete-before-expiry as shipped, while listing optional password protection, file requests, upload resumption, and Wormhole Pro for longer expiry and larger files under future work. Because the FAQ’s 24-hour rule and the roadmap’s custom expiration item both appeared on live pages, both are noted here.

Why 7-day cloud retention and passwords matter

A 24-hour window or keeping a browser tab open works when the recipient is online at the same moment. It fails when you send a cut on Friday afternoon and the client opens it on Monday morning. On SendToAnyone free, files up to 6 GB are stored on global cloud storage for 1 hour, 24 hours, 3 days, or 7 days. Once the upload completes and the link is shown, you can close your laptop.

A password encrypts the files before they leave the browser. It is not in the email. A link without a password keeps the key in the link. We cannot read those files. Password protection and file requests at the receive page are already live here. If an upload is interrupted, multipart chunks already stored can be resumed from the same browser.

Paid plans for files over 6 GB, and honest limits

Instead of requiring both people to stay online for a file over 6 GB, paid plans here store the encrypted transfer in the cloud so the recipient can download on their own schedule. Creator is 50 GB for 30 days at ₹299 or $3.99 monthly or ₹3,199 or $39.99 yearly. A Pass is ₹199 or $2.49 for one 100 GB transfer for 30 days. Pro is 250 GB per transfer, 1,000 GB stored, and 1 year at ₹999 or $10.99 monthly or ₹10,499 or $109.99 yearly, after the server confirms payment.

Team checkout is not open, and Studio and Business say Contact sales. There is no EU storage region. An independent operator based in India runs the site, and the service is not yet certified. The upload scan checks the file name and the first few kilobytes before encryption and is not a complete malware guarantee.

Questions

Do I have to keep my browser tab open until the recipient downloads?

No. For a normal transfer, you only stay on the page until your upload finishes. After the link is created, the recipient can download any time before the expiry.

How are files encrypted here?

A password encrypts the files before they leave the browser. A link without a password keeps the key in the link. We cannot read those files.

Can I send a 50 GB or 100 GB file stored in the cloud?

Yes, on a paid plan after payment is confirmed: Creator covers 50 GB, a Pass covers 100 GB once, and Pro covers 250 GB.

Are file requests already live?

Yes. Open the receive page while signed in to create a request link.
